Barcelona’s pre-season work has intensified this week as Hansi Flick continues shaping his squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The Catalans are spending part of their preparations at England’s St George’s Park, where double training sessions have already been introduced.

Wednesday’s schedule began inside the gym before the players headed onto the Bobby Charlton pitch for their outdoor work later in the morning.

The coaching staff have carefully managed several players carrying minor fitness issues as they look to avoid setbacks before the season begins.

Barcelona’s first pre-season fixture is now drawing closer, making player fitness an increasingly important priority.

Alejandro Balde provided an encouraging update during Wednesday’s training after returning to the pitch for individual running work, as per AS.

The La Masia graduate has been managing pubalgia in recent days, an issue Barcelona do not consider serious, and has therefore trained away from the main group.

During the morning session, Alejandro Balde completed a short run alongside one of the club’s physiotherapists while the remainder of the squad continued full training.

Barcelona later completed a second session in the afternoon before further workouts scheduled for Thursday and Sunday.

The Spanish full-back remains in England with the squad as he continues building towards full fitness ahead of the new season.

Barcelona are preparing for their friendly against Birmingham City on July 31 before hosting Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 19, with Balde hoping to rejoin full training before those fixtures arrive.
