West Ham United has shown interest in acquiring former Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto, who is currently a free agent after his contract with his previous club expired. Known for his versatility in both midfield and defence, Roberto has garnered attention from various clubs, including Aston Villa and Ajax.

Throughout his career at the Spotify Camp Nou, Roberto has made 373 first-team appearances for Barcelona, demonstrating his prowess with 19 goals and 43 assists, notably including a remarkable performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. His achievements at Barcelona include seven La Liga titles, two Champions Leagues, six Copa del Reys, and numerous other accolades. Additionally, the 32-year-old has represented Spain 11 times at the international level.

With his wealth of experience and leadership qualities, Roberto’s acquisition could prove to be a valuable addition to West Ham’s squad, particularly as manager Julen Lopetegui looks to reinforce the team for the upcoming season. If secured on a free transfer, Roberto’s signing would undoubtedly be a strategic move for the Hammers as they seek to build a competitive squad capable of contending for European qualification once again.
