Barcelona’s hierarchy, led by sporting director Deco, is prioritising the No.9 role and centre-back options as part of a wider plan to improve balance and depth ahead of next season.

However, beyond those headline targets, there is also an openness within the club to reinforce other positions if the right opportunities arise in the market.

One such area under review is the goalkeeping department, where Barcelona could look to bring in a more reliable backup option to support first-choice stopper Joan Garcia.

Current reserve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has seen very limited action this season, and while he remains respected internally, there is a growing feeling that the squad could benefit from stronger competition in that position.

As a result, Barcelona have begun exploring alternatives, with Alex Remiro emerging as a potential candidate.

The Real Sociedad goalkeeper is viewed as an experienced and dependable option in La Liga, and his situation could make him an attractive target this summer.

Remiro’s current contract runs until 2027, but he will soon enter the final year of his deal, which significantly lowers his market value compared to his reported release clause of around €70–75 million.

Barcelona could secure Alex Remiro for a fee just under €15 million, making him a cost-effective solution in a market where financial efficiency remains crucial for the club, as Mundo Deportivo reports.

Deco has already initiated contact, holding discussions with the goalkeeper’s representatives to assess the feasibility of a move, although negotiations are still at an early stage.

Despite this interest, it is important to note that signing a goalkeeper is not currently a top priority for Barcelona, meaning any deal would likely depend on how other transfer plans unfold.

Still, with a proven La Liga performer potentially available at a reduced price, this is a situation the Catalan club will continue to monitor closely as the window approaches.
