Barcelona’s title charge has taken a major hit at the worst possible moment, with one of their brightest stars now officially sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
Barcelona have confirmed that Lamine Yamal will not feature again this season after suffering a hamstring injury during their clash against Celta Vigo.
The 18-year-old had actually found the net from the penalty spot before being forced off late in the first half, with the severity of the issue becoming clear after medical tests the following day.
With six crucial matches still to play, the timing could not be worse for Barcelona, who remain locked in a tense title race.
Lamine Yamal has been one of the standout performers this season, stepping up in big moments despite his age and becoming a key attacking outlet in the absence of consistent senior options.
Now, the focus shifts to how Barcelona cope without him during the final stretch.
Breaking his silence after the diagnosis, Yamal shared an emotional message on Instagram reflecting both his frustration and determination.
“This injury is keeping me off the pitch just when I wanted to be there the most, and it hurts more than I can put into words,” Lamine started.
“It hurts not to be able to fight alongside my teammates, not to be able to help when the team needs me. But I believe in them and I know they’ll give their all in every match,” he wrote.
Despite the setback, the teenager made it clear he will remain closely connected to the squad as they push towards the finish line.
“I’ll be there, even if it’s from the sidelines, supporting, cheering and pushing them on just like one of the boys.
“This isn’t the end, it’s just a break.
“I’ll come back stronger, more eager than ever, and next season will be better.”
“Thanks for the messages and Visca el Barca.”
From a broader perspective, this injury could have a significant impact on the title race.
Barcelona have relied heavily on Yamal’s creativity in the final third, and losing that spark at this stage of the season adds real pressure on the rest of the squad to step up.
