FC Barcelona claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid in the second leg, yet bowed out of the UEFA Champions League on aggregate.
Down 2-0 from the first leg, the Catalans mounted an electric start, scoring twice in the opening 30 minutes to draw level on aggregate.
Atlético hit back with a goal to reclaim the advantage overall, stalling Barça’s surge.
Though Barcelona seized the initiative after halftime, a red card left them a man short, sealing their elimination from the tournament.
Here are the Barcelona player ratings:
Joan Garcia (7/10)
Had very little to do in the first half and couldn’t be faulted for Lookman’s goal that Atletico scored.
Played his part with smart distribution to help build attacks and pulled off a crucial save late on.
Joao Cancelo (6.5/10)
Wasn’t as offensively influential on the left flank as his reputation demands, particularly in the first half.
Atletico’s goal came from a run down his side, exposing his familiar defensive vulnerabilities once again.
Gerard Martin (8/10)
Defended with great determination and made it hard for Atletico to find a way past him throughout the game.
His pressing and off-ball intensity also helped Barcelona’s build-up play move with more purpose.
Eric Garcia (6/10)
Formed a decent partnership with Martin at centre-back and was comfortable under Atletico’s press.
However, a completely needless challenge saw him get sent off, effectively ending Barcelona’s comeback hopes.
Jules Kounde (6.5/10)
Combined well with Yamal going forward and contributed some decent attacking moments down the right.
Should have done more to stop Lookman receiving the ball for Atletico’s crucial away goal.
Gavi (7.5/10)
An unexpected starter but justified Flick’s faith with an enormous defensive shift and relentless pressing.
Was a key figure in maintaining Barcelona’s intensity through the middle and keeping the build-up fluid.
Pedri (8/10)
Did his job in terms of ball circulation and pressing, keeping things ticking over in midfield.
Still, he lacked his usual sharpness and seemed a step slower than his best self throughout the night.
Dani Olmo (8/10)
Thrived in tight spaces and was instrumental in keeping Barcelona’s pressure high in the first half.
Set up Ferran Torres’ goal with an incisive through ball, showing his eye for a decisive final pass.
Fermín López (7.5/10)
Started ahead of Rashford on the left and justified the selection with his relentless running and pressing.
Constantly stretched Atletico’s defensive shape, winning the ball back and creating pockets of space for teammates.
Lamine Yamal (9/10)
Backed up his pre-match words with action, putting in a dominant display and opening the scoring in just the 4th minute.
Was Barcelona’s primary creative force all night, consistently pulling strings and causing chaos down the right flank.
Ferran Torres (9/10)
Carried his brilliant weekend form into this match, picking up an early assist before scoring Barcelona’s second goal himself.
His intelligent movement between defenders left Atletico completely unable to handle him, vindicating Flick’s selection decision.
