Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has issued a blunt warning to Barcelona ahead of their crucial La Liga clash.
Ahead of Saturday’s La Liga meeting at the Metropolitano, the Atletico boss acknowledged that Barça’s ability to dominate space and seize control of games can leave rivals “unable to think” once the Catalan side settle into their rhythm.
Simeone also underlined the difficulty of stopping Barcelona’s collective threat, arguing that the quality spread through their squad often outweighs any tactical setup in clashes between the two teams, as reported by AS.
In a pre‑match press conference, Diego Simeone refused to single out one Barcelona player as the main danger, instead insisting that “all their players are exceptional and possess the capability to dominate in the opponent’s territory, making it difficult for you to think.”
He highlighted how Barcelona have maintained the same high‑pressing, high‑defensive‑line approach since Hansi Flick took over two years ago, pointing out that this identity will not change and that their duel‑winning numbers directly fuel their attacking transitions.
Atletico’s coach stressed that while his own side has stuck to the same core principles for 14 years, Madrid will still have to be at their sharpest mentally and physically to contain Barcelona’s attacking variety.
Diego Simeone also dismissed the idea that one fixture carries more weight than the others, noting that this will be the fourth meeting between the two sides this season, with three clashes in ten days across La Liga and the Champions League.
He said that “it carries the same importance as all the others,” underlining the need to treat each game with the same level of intensity and focus.
The Argentine manager added a broader reflection on football culture, speaking about the recent racism incident in Spain’s friendly against Egypt and calling for more respect and awareness within society as a whole
