Barcelona have increasingly relied on homegrown talents in recent years, with La Masia graduates forming a crucial part of both the present squad and future vision.
At the same time, Financial Fair Play pressures mean that even key players are not entirely untouchable if major offers arrive.
This delicate situation has already sparked several transfer rumours ahead of the summer window.
Now, one of Barcelona’s brightest defensive prospects finds himself at the centre of growing speculation.
Alejandro Balde is not actively being placed on the market by Barcelona, despite recent reports suggesting the club could look to cash in on the left-back this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, via his YouTube channel, the Blaugrana still view the 22-year-old as an important part of their project and have no immediate plans to sell him.
However, the situation is not entirely closed, as Barcelona would be willing to consider significant financial offers should they arrive.
Given Balde’s status as a La Masia graduate, any potential sale would represent pure profit in accounting terms, offering a major boost in terms of Financial Fair Play.
The Spanish international, who joined Barcelona’s famed academy at a young age and broke into the first team during the 2021/22 season, quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young full-backs.
Balde is currently sidelined with a hamstring issue, adding further uncertainty to his short-term situation.
Interest in the defender is already building, with several Premier League clubs monitoring him closely ahead of the transfer window.
The two Manchester clubs, United and City, have both reportedly made enquiries about his availability.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have also been linked with potential replacements, including Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking full-back Alejandro Grimaldo, should they decide to reshape the position.
For now, there have been no formal offers or negotiations, and Alejandro Balde remains under contract at the club until 2028.
