Barcelona confirm the Spotify Camp Nou capacity increase is officially locked in, ready to transform the stadium experience.
After months of operating with a reduced crowd due to ongoing construction, the club has been working closely with city authorities to unlock the next capacity tier at the remodelled venue.
The gradual reopening has already transformed the atmosphere compared to Montjuïc, but demand from socios and fans continues to far outstrip the current limit.
With key fixtures on the horizon, both financially and sportingly, timing this next jump has been treated as a strategic priority by the board.
The Spotify Camp Nou capacity increase official date has been announced internally, with Barcelona expecting the green light in early March to open additional sections and raise the limit to around 62,000 spectators, as per the official Barcelona statement.
The club have communicated that approval from the city council – tied to the 1C occupancy licence and safety checks on the Gol Nord stand – should arrive at the beginning of the month, allowing more fans in from the subsequent home games.
This would mark the first major jump since the partial reopening at roughly 45,000 seats in November, bringing the club closer to the long-term target of a 100,000-plus fully modernised stadium.
Practically, the expansion will mean opening up more of the lower and second tiers, improving both capacity and overall matchday experience.
Revenue-wise, the impact is substantial: an extra 15,000–17,000 fans per home match significantly boosts ticketing and hospitality income at a time when every euro counts toward Financial Fair Play and Laporta’s ambitious sporting promises.
It also eases pressure on members who have faced lotteries and rotation systems to attend games since the temporary capacity was set.
