UEFA imposes hefty fines and sanctions on Eintracht Frankfurt following chaotic fan incidents at Spotify Camp Nou.
The scenes, which drew heavy criticism across the continent, included crowd disorder, pyrotechnics in the stands, and visible damage to parts of the stadium infrastructure.
Investigators from UEFA’s disciplinary bodies reviewed the incident, concluding that several key regulations on public order and stadium safety had been breached by the visiting supporters.
UEFA has punished Eintracht Frankfurt with both financial and sporting sanctions, sending a clear message about fan behaviour in European competitions, as reported by Diario Sport.
The Bundesliga club has been hit with total fines amounting to €38,000, alongside a ban on selling tickets to its own fans for the next two away matches in UEFA club competitions.
The governing body found the German side guilty under multiple sections of Article 16 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, citing “throwing objects, setting off fireworks, damaging the stadium and/or its facilities” as well as “causing disturbances among the public”.
The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body detailed the breakdown of the sanctions in writing. Eintracht Frankfurt is prohibited from selling tickets to visiting fans for their next UEFA club competition match due to lighting and throwing fireworks, and causing disturbances in the stands.
A further fine of €30,000 was imposed, together with an additional one-game ban on ticket sales to away supporters for setting off fireworks and throwing objects, plus an €8,000 fine specifically for damage caused inside the stadium.
Beyond these direct penalties, UEFA has also demanded that the club take responsibility for the physical repairs.
Barcelona, for their part, are preparing a claim estimated at €6,100 to cover repairs to the barrier separating supporters, broken seats, vandalised toilets, and other affected facilities, underlining the material impact of the chaotic night at the Camp Nou.
