Inter Miami has officially signed a former Barcelona superstar to a new contract extending through the 2026 MLS season.

The Herons, fresh off clinching the Eastern Conference Championship and MLS Cup presented by Audi—coupled with deep runs to the FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16 and Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals—prioritize continuity in their attack amid roster transitions like Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets’ retirements.

This extension rewards two transformative years marked by record-breaking campaigns, including the 2024 Supporters’ Shield and single-season points record, where the veteran talisman’s leadership and output proved indispensable despite a reduced playoff role late in 2025.

With Lionel Messi locked in for three more years and new additions like Sergio Reguilón signaling ambition, the move bolsters a squad eyeing back-to-back MLS Cups while rebuilding midfield depth around rising stars like Mateo Silvetti and Tadeo Allende.

That icon is Luis Suárez, the Uruguayan striker whose 42 goals—second in club history—and 30 assists across 87 appearances have redefined Inter Miami’s fortunes since his 2024 arrival, officially announced by Inter Miami.

In 2025 alone, he notched 17 goals and 17 assists in 50 outings, maintaining elite impact at 38 despite ceding starts to youth in the postseason stretch run.

Owner Jorge Mas emphasized Suárez’s irreplaceable value, praising his over 4,000 minutes, 15-16 goals, and matching assists as a no-brainer renewal, leaving the decision to the player who chose to “exit through the front door” celebrated.

Suárez’s trophy cabinet—spanning UEFA Champions League, five La Ligas, Premier League Golden Shoe records, and Uruguay’s Copa América glory—adds gravitas to Miami Freedom Park’s 2026 vision.
