FC Barcelona has officially confirmed that Spotify Camp Nou will host its first competitive match in over two years.
The club has been playing its home games away from its iconic stadium for over two years due to persistent redevelopment works.
Multiple false starts and postponed plans had made the return seem uncertain, but the persistent efforts behind the scenes have now borne fruit.
The club has been working closely with local authorities and La Liga, addressing safety, security, and capacity requirements, to make this historic moment possible.
Barcelona will officially return to the Spotify Camp Nou this coming weekend when they host Athletic Club in a La Liga fixture on November 22.
This marks the end of their temporary stint at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, where they had been forced to play since 2023 amidst the stadium’s extensive renovations.
The club announced that the return was greenlit following the acquisition of the first occupancy license under Phase 1B, allowing the stadium to operate with a capacity of 45,401 spectators.
This license covers the entire lateral area, alongside previously approved sections like the Tribune and South Goal.
Though the full redevelopment of the stadium is ongoing and expected to be completed by 2027, this partial reopening revitalizes an essential element of Barcelona’s identity—their fortress at Spotify Camp Nou.
Fans will experience key parts of the stadium while work continues to secure authorization for the North Goal area in the subsequent phase.
Beyond La Liga, Barcelona also aims to host forthcoming UEFA Champions League matches at Spotify Camp Nou, with UEFA’s confirmation awaited for their game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
This long-awaited return symbolizes a new chapter for Barcelona, combining tradition with modern upgrades and a strengthened partnership with Spotify that has brought a fresh cultural edge to the club’s home ground.
For the players, fans, and the city, the Spotify Camp Nou is ready to roar once again.
