Barcelona are in a strong position heading into the winter window, both on and off the pitch.

Hansi Flick’s side are showing more cohesion by the week, and the recent return of key players from injury has boosted morale in the dressing room.

The Catalans are also riding high in La Liga and remain firmly in the Champions League mix, despite the financial constraints that continue to shape their transfer activity.

While Flick remains focused on results, behind the scenes, sporting director Deco is busy laying the groundwork for the club’s future.

The priority this winter is not new arrivals, but ensuring that crucial members of the squad are tied down long-term — a policy that has already seen several stars renew their contracts.

Frenkie de Jong was the latest to commit his future to Barcelona, signing an extension last week that reaffirmed his importance in Flick’s rebuild.

Next on the list is Eric Garcia, whose current deal expires next summer.

The Spaniard has been a revelation under Flick, excelling both in central defence and as a makeshift full-back, and his consistency has earned him a new contract that is expected to be signed in the coming weeks.

Once Garcia’s renewal is wrapped up, Barcelona will shift their attention to another in-house matter.

According to Sport, Deco will open talks with Ferran Torres over a fresh deal soon after.

The 25-year-old forward is currently contracted until 2027 but has emerged as Flick’s preferred striker this season, cementing his role with a string of composed and clinical displays.

The long-term vision is clear.

With Robert Lewandowski likely to depart when his deal expires next summer, Ferran Torres is being lined up as a central figure in Barcelona’s attack heading into the 2026–27 campaign.

Even though a new striker is expected to arrive, possibly a marquee name such as Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, the Spain international will still retain a major role in Flick’s plans.

Just a year ago, Ferran’s future looked uncertain, with speculation linking him to a Premier League return after a difficult spell at the Camp Nou.

But under Flick, he’s rediscovered his confidence and form, and his resurgence means Barcelona now view him as an essential part of their long-term project.

With contract talks imminent, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Ferran’s journey in Catalonia is only just beginning.
