FC Barcelona is preparing a bold €20m offer, setting its sights on a Mexican prodigy to bolster its squad.

With Hansi Flick’s squad blending veterans like Robert Lewandowski with young stars like Lamine Yamal, the Blaugrana are poised to reinforce their attacking ranks.

Amid financial constraints, sporting director Deco is targeting a bold move to secure a versatile forward whose record-breaking exploits have sparked a transfer frenzy across Europe, promising to elevate Barcelona’s already glittering youth pipeline.

As reported by Sports Mole, Barcelona are preparing a €20m (£17.4m) bid for Club Tijuana’s Gilberto Mora, a 16-year-old Mexican sensation who became the youngest goalscorer in Liga MX history at 15 years and 320 days in August 2024.

With seven goals and two assists in 41 senior appearances, Mora’s two-footed flair and positional flexibility—able to play across the front line—have drawn interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

His three goals and two assists in four games at the U-20 World Cup further showcase his potential.

Mora’s senior international experience, including an assist in Mexico’s Gold Cup semi-final against Honduras, underscores his readiness for a big move.

Barcelona’s edge lies in their reputation for nurturing young talent, with Yamal’s 27 goals and 38 assists in 111 appearances at age 18 serving as a beacon for Mora.

A potential partnership between the two could form a dynamic attacking axis for years, though Yamal’s recent injury niggles highlight the need for depth.

The €20m offer positions Barcelona ahead in a crowded race, but their financial limitations mean outbidding rivals like Real Madrid or City is tricky.

Mora’s versatility aligns with Flick’s high-pressing system, offering a long-term successor to Lewandowski.

However, with his contract details undisclosed, Tijuana could demand more, especially given his marketability.

As January nears, Deco’s pursuit of Mora signals Barcelona’s intent to stay atop the youth development game, potentially landing a star who could light up Camp Nou alongside Yamal for a decade.
