All eyes at Camp Nou are turned toward how the squad will respond in Barcelona’s coming fixtures.
Hansi Flick’s side return to La Liga action this weekend, and fitness concerns remain a talking point, especially after tight scheduling and several players carrying knocks.
Meanwhile, rumours about impending departures and new signings refuse to die down, as fans wonder who will stay, who will go, and who might arrive in January.
Deco, as sporting director, has been under increasing pressure to deliver clarity, both in contract renewals and in the big transfer decisions that could define the season.
The main story involves two high-profile names: Marcus Rashford and Luis Díaz.
Deco also cleared the air around transfers involving Marcus Rashford, Luis Diaz.
He explained, via Mundo Deportivo, that Rashford’s loan is straightforward, with no hidden penalties.
“He’s on a simple loan, there’s no penalty, and if we want him, we have an option to buy.
“What we thought he could bring to us, he’s bringing.”
On Diaz, Deco admitted it was impossible from the start because Liverpool were posing a strong opposition.
“With Diaz, Liverpool were pretty tough from the first minute, refusing to sell him, and it’s even more complicated that way, like if they came to us and we didn’t want to put a player on the market.
“Luis’ move ended up being impossible.
“Rashford’s move was also complicated at first, but it became a little easier because United were more open to a loan, and that gave us more leeway.”
Barcelona had expressed interest in both Rashford and Díaz during the last transfer window, but their paths diverged.
The club managed to secure Rashford’s signature on loan from Manchester United, a deal described by Deco as simple and transparent, including an option to buy if things go well.
His arrival has brought fresh attacking options and tactical flexibility, something Flick had wanted.
By contrast, the attempt to sign Luis Díaz was thwarted early, largely due to Liverpool’s refusal to sell and the difficulty of meeting their demands.
Despite strong interest, Barcelona could not overcome the obstacles—neither financially nor in negotiation complexity.
Deco’s remarks underline how constrained Barcelona remain in the transfer market, particularly under financial fair play, and how difficult it is even to pursue players who are desired.
