Raphinha, FC Barcelona’s electrifying winger, has added to the club’s growing injury concerns, with the Brazilian star sidelined following a setback in their recent match against Real Oviedo.

The 28-year-old, a pivotal figure in Hansi Flick’s attacking system, was forced off the pitch in the 66th minute due to hamstring discomfort.

With Barcelona already navigating a challenging start to the 2024/25 season, Raphinha’s absence comes at a critical time as the Blaugrana prepare for crucial fixtures in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, testing their squad depth.

The injury, confirmed after Raphinha missed Friday’s team training session for individual gym work, will keep him out until after the October international break, as reported by Gerard Romero.

This timeline rules him out of this weekend’s La Liga match against Real Sociedad, the blockbuster Champions League clash against PSG on October 1, and the subsequent league game against Sevilla.

Barcelona is expected to issue an official update soon, but the loss of Raphinha, who has contributed three goals and two assists in all seven of the club’s matches this season, is a significant setback.

His flair and creativity have been central to Flick’s plans, making his absence keenly felt.

The injury adds to an already lengthy list of absentees, with Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and now goalkeeper Joan Garcia—also injured in training—unavailable.

Despite the return of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde offering some hope, Barcelona’s depth will be tested in this demanding stretch.

Raphinha’s fifth-place finish in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings underscores his importance, and Flick will need to rely on emerging talents like Marc Bernal to fill the void.

The Brazilian’s absence could force tactical adjustments, particularly against a formidable PSG side.

As Barcelona aims to maintain its La Liga momentum and make a statement in Europe, Raphinha’s injury poses a challenge.

Flick’s ability to adapt will be crucial, with the international break providing a potential window for the winger’s recovery.
