Barcelona are riding high this season, with the squad showing cohesion and promise under their coaching setup.

The club’s youth pipeline is receiving fresh praise, and fans have been reminiscing about past icons who shaped the identity of the Blaugrana.

Off the pitch, the return to the Spotify Camp Nou and transfer rumours are generating plenty of excitement and intrigue.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, another chapter is quietly coming to a close—one that carries deep resonance for Barca supporters worldwide.

In a heartfelt social media message, Sergio Busquets confirmed long-standing speculation: he will retire from professional football at the end of the MLS playoffs, as Inter Miami chase their first MLS Cup.

The 37-year-old veteran, who has made 69 league appearances for Miami, is set to see his contract expire in December.

Busquets’s career is nothing short of monumental.

During his time at Barcelona, he racked up 722 appearances, winning nine La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies, among numerous other honours.

On the international stage, he earned 143 caps for Spain and was central to their 2010 World Cup triumph.

At Inter Miami, Sergio Busquets has already added silverware to his résumé, contributing to the 2023 Leagues Cup victory and 2024 Supporters’ Shield title.

In his announcement on Instagram, he expressed a sense of fulfilment and gratitude: “It’s been an incredible journey.

“I feel that the time has come to say goodbye to my career as a professional footballer.

“It’s been nearly 20 years of enjoying this incredible story I always dreamed of.

“These will be my final months on the pitch.

“I retire happy, fulfilled, and, above all, grateful. Thank you all so much — see you soon.”

With just five regular-season games remaining, Miami have already secured their place in the playoffs and are pushing to improve their seeding.

They currently sit third in the Eastern Conference but have two games in hand and trail only five points behind the leaders, Philadelphia Union.

For Barca fans, this is a bittersweet moment.

Busquets has defined an era in Catalonia’s midfield, embodying calm control, tactical intelligence, and unwavering loyalty.

His departure will mark the end of a chapter that will never quite be replicated.
