Real Betis has made its move for a rising Barcelona star, probing a potential deal to bolster its midfield ranks.

The La Liga side, keen to bolster their squad after losing Johnny Cardoso to Atletico Madrid, is seeking a defensive midfielder to strengthen their midfield.

With a history of successful transfer dealings between the two clubs, including players like Emerson Royal, Chadi Riad, and Vitor Roque, Real Betis hoped to strike another deal.

However, the transfer appears to be a long shot due to financial constraints and the player’s determination to stay.

The player in question is Marc Casado, a 21-year-old Barcelona academy graduate who caught attention with an impressive breakthrough last season, as reported by Diario Sport.

Despite his potential, Casado faces stiff competition for a starting spot at Barcelona, with Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, and the returning Marc Bernal ahead of him in the pecking order.

His lack of minutes in Barcelona’s recent match against Mallorca has fueled speculation about his future, prompting Betis to enquire about his availability.

However, the deal is described as “practically impossible” due to several hurdles.

Barcelona values Casado highly, setting his price tag at €30 million—a figure far beyond what Real Betis can afford.

The Andalusian club’s proposal to acquire a percentage of the player’s rights was dismissed by Barcelona, who are uninterested in such an arrangement.

While a late transfer could help Barcelona comply with La Liga’s 1:1 Fair Play rule, Casado’s camp has consistently reiterated his desire to remain at the club.

Interest from a Premier League side and Atletico Madrid earlier this summer was similarly rebuffed by the young midfielder.

Casado’s resolve to fight for his place at Barcelona remains unshaken, despite the challenges of securing regular playing time.

Unless an unexpected twist occurs, he is set to stay put, with the January transfer window potentially offering a clearer picture of his future if game time remains scarce.
