Barcelona’s highly anticipated pre-season is officially set to kick off this Sunday, July 13, with players due back at the Ciutat Esportiva for medical tests and preparations.
The season begins with high expectations following a campaign that saw the Catalan giants make significant progress under Hansi Flick.
With Flick now at the helm, all eyes are on how he reshapes the squad for the 2025/26 season.
Returning faces will include key players from last season’s success, as well as a handful of exciting young talents promoted from Barca Atletic to bolster the training group.
However, there is particular focus on one new name expected to take part in Sunday’s assessments: Roony Bardghji.
According to AS journalist Javi Miguel, Roony Bardghji is scheduled to undergo final medical checks alongside the rest of the squad this weekend.
The 19-year-old Swedish winger is close to completing a €2 million move from FC Copenhagen, having already undergone a partial medical earlier this week.
What makes Bardghji’s case unique is his recent injury history.
He suffered a significant ACL injury in May 2024, which kept him out for almost a year.

Sunday’s tests are expected to confirm his full recovery, and should he pass them, the deal will be finalised and officially announced.
Despite being pegged for future inclusion in Barca Atletic, Bardghji is expected to train with the first team throughout the pre-season under Flick, giving him a chance to impress the new boss.
In addition to Bardghji, Oriol Romeu will also report for medicals after his loan stint at Girona.
Although unlikely to feature in Flick’s plans, his presence is required ahead of potential exit negotiations.
A group of eight youth players – including Landry Farre, Jan Virgili, and Guille Fernandez – have also been called up to train with the first team.
However, Pablo Torre will not be present, as he finalises his permanent switch to Mallorca.
With Flick looking to hit the ground running, Sunday will offer the first glimpse of his squad – and perhaps, the official arrival of Barcelona’s latest young star.
