Barcelona’s summer plans are beginning to take shape under new manager Hansi Flick, with a number of fringe players expected to be moved on in the coming weeks.

The Catalan giants have been active in the market as they prepare to welcome Nico Williams to Camp Nou, while also working hard to create financial breathing room in line with La Liga’s regulations.

With the wage bill still under pressure and squad size a concern, Barcelona are keen to offload players who struggled for game time last season.

Attention has now turned to a young talent whose future looks increasingly uncertain.

Pablo Torre, once heralded as one of Spain’s most promising midfielders, is now being eyed by Portuguese heavyweights Benfica.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who cite Record in reporting Benfica’s interest in the 22-year-old, who spent much of the 2024/25 campaign on the fringes at Barça.

Pablo Torre managed just five starts across all competitions despite showing flashes of brilliance when called upon.

The high competition for places in Flick’s midfield – particularly with Pedri and Gavi in top form – meant Torre was largely a spectator.

Barcelona are open to parting ways with the former Racing Santander star, either permanently or on loan, depending on the offer.

Benfica have now emerged as a potential destination, hoping to capitalise on Torre’s desire for regular minutes.

Reports suggest the Lisbon-based club are serious about their pursuit, though they have yet to formally lodge a bid.

Barcelona are expected to demand a fee that reflects Torre’s potential, though it remains to be seen if Benfica will meet their valuation.

A move to the Primeira Liga could be the perfect springboard for Torre to revive his career, with Benfica renowned for developing young players and handing them a platform to shine in Europe.

For Barcelona, this would mark another strategic departure as they reshape their squad for the 2025/26 season – a summer likely to be filled with both arrivals and exits.
