Bayern Munich is gearing up to challenge FC Barcelona with a substantial offer for a key star, aiming to bolster its squad.
Bayern Munich turned up the pressure in their search for a new dynamic winger they have marked as their top target, and it has posed a major threat to FC Barcelona’s plans for transfer as the German giants want to sign the same player.
Following the departures of Leroy Sane to Galatasaray and the likely departure of Thomas Muller, Bayern are now planning a complete change to their attack under Vincent Kompany.
Bayern Munich, based in major part on the financial flexibility they now have to meet release clauses as well as provide competitive contracts, has held two meetings with the player’s agent, which shows they are serious about signing him.
The player involved due to the ongoing interest by both clubs is the 22-year-old Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Barcelona is still in the race for the player, as he has also made it clear to them that he would like to join their club despite their current financial position.
Williams’ price is his release clause of €62 million, and he has stated publicly that moving to Barcelona is his first priority, even if he has to earn less to wear the Blaugrana shirt.
Bayern’s aggressive push made their move urgent when they were able and willing to pay the clause outright, which has moved things forward considerably in comparison to FC Barcelona’s situation, where they need to offload players to proceed with the deal.
Sporting director Deco met with Williams’ agent Felix Tainta in the last few days, and is aware FC Barcelona has set their eyes on other players; however, they still lack enough financial resources to sign him or anyone, which does make negotiations even trickier for them moving forward.
Both clubs are trying to sign him, and the future months will be important.
Barcelona needs to make a decision quickly to secure his signature; otherwise, the club runs the risk of losing Williams to Bayern’s financial power and sporting ambition.
