Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is advising the club to target two strategic signings to improve the squad, filling two important gaps without financial repercussions for the club.
According to Fichajes, the two are valued at €45 million together and are seen as sensible signings that will allow Barcelona to improve.
Flick’s way of working is to focus on improving the squad immediately and wisely, without volatile and costly signings, in line with the club’s urgent need to negotiate their finances, while trying to put Barcelona back on top under Hansi Flick management.
The objectives are Ademola Lookman and Alejandro Grimaldo.
Lookman is a 27-year-old forward playing at Atalanta and has excelled in Serie A with his pace on the ball, presence on both wings, and his defensive work rate.
His tactical versatility and familiarity working with Barcelona make him a great signing for Flick’s plans.
Grimaldo is, of course, a former La Masia player and has grown into one of Europe’s premier left-backs at Bayer Leverkusen.
Due to the recent activity in the transfer market, Grimaldo’s release clause would be reasonable for the club, and he would be a return to the club, which makes sense financially.
If Gerard Martin leaves, Grimaldo would be a valuable competition for Alejandro Balde, as well as adding valuable experience to the team.
Flick’s choices showcase a focus on solving real problems, not a star-chasing mentality.
Lookman’s electric attacking force and Grimaldo’s reliability at left back would add balance and squad depth to a transitional Barcelona team.
The combined €45 million transfer fee is a potential cheap value for a budget-constrained team.
If Hansi Flick can secure these two signings, he may just have the variety and stability he wants to fuel Barca’s competing potential, be it in La Liga or any second new soccer enterprise under his practical vision of the club’s rebuild process.
