Two of Barcelona key first-team players have firmly dismissed transfer speculation, reaffirming their commitment to the club for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
With several younger players potentially entering the squad to rejuvenate the club, it had been suggested that the two prominent players could be sold to account for a younger squad approach.
However, both players took the opportunity in interviews to rule out any speculation over their future and made it clear that they are intending to stay at Camp Nou beyond the 2025/26 season.
The players in question are star striker Robert Lewandowski and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Lewandowski has been a mainstay for Barcelona since his arrival as a prolific goalscorer and key part of the attack.
There had been some suggestion of a possible exit for new players to be brought into the squad, however, the Polish international issued a strong response when interviewed, stating, “I will stay at Barça. It’s not even a topic.
For sure, I am sure our team will be stronger, and I want to win even more.” The comments made demonstrate a clear desire to continue cultivating a Barcelona that is competitive.
Similarly, made an announcement ending speculation over a possible move away, Ter Stegen played the stalwart.
The German keeper and long-term contributor stated, “I know I will be in Barcelona next year, for me, the situation has not changed in principle.
I am very much looking forward to next season”. Finding him committed solidifies his position as a leader in Hansi Flick’s squad.
With both players committed, Barcelona can establish their foundations and build experience around younger talents, removing uncertainty about their core squad’s security.
