Barcelona summer transfer strategy is falling into place as they look to rejuvenate their forward line ahead of the next season.
With Hansi Flick in charge, Barcelona is targeting and prioritizing an explosive left-sided attacker to complement the existing attackers and provide depth.
As mentioned above, Barcelona has recently reduced its target list down to three big-name attackers, each with a level of quality specific to handling Flick’s possession-based play and high-intensity style coming into the next season.
How successful Barcelona can be in terms of players in and out will ultimately depend on the financial situation and La Liga’s 1:1 rule, which only allows for direct reinvestment through transfer income.
The three chosen names include, but are not limited to, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané, as reported by Fichajes.
Rashford, the club’s primary focus, has had a difficult season and might welcome a new beginning.
Barcelona is entertaining a loan with an option to buy for €48 million.
This process may prove to be tedious when negotiating, but it is a step forward.
Martinelli, a 23-year-old Brazilian, has consistency and has great long-term potential, however, it will be hard to convince Arsenal to let him go.
With his experience in both the Premier League and, more specifically, the Bundesliga, Sané is the most proven option, albeit at a cost, with a sizeable market value and salary demand that would affect Barça’s budget unless several players were sold.
It is clear from Flick’s intentions to refresh the squad that he wishes to be balanced and competitive moving forward in order to create some attacking diversity and flexibility.
Whoever the winger is will need to demonstrate alignment with both tactical requirements and Barça’s financial requirements.
As we await our budget clarity, the Barcelona fans are tantalized, chomping at the bit as to which of these stars will be wearing the Blaugrana’s colours.
Over the next few months, we shall see if Flick’s optimism can turn into a Dortmund-style transformational signing for the Catalans.
