Barcelona hopes of signing their top attacking target have been dashed by a staggering €150 million price tag.
Barcelona is currently struggling with finances, but their upcoming season has begun.
Having been more than aware that they require additional firepower in their attacking department, there is particular focus on securing a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
With this in mind, they are looking to bring in another dynamic forward who can be the club’s frontman for some time.
There is still hope that they can make things happen in this summer transfer window, but multiple factors are making their ambitions more difficult.
This dream target is Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, as reported by Marca.
The Swedish international recently made a move to St. James’ Park after becoming one of the Premier League’s most consistently nerve-gutting strikers
Isak has clinical finishing, with bags of versatility, and has been putting in very solid performances for the club to help ease the frustration of Newcastle’s sustainable scoring style.
Isak, who is valued at about €100 million by Transfermarkt, is still such a different player today than four years ago when he arrived to play for St. James’ Park.
If the valuation is correct, one can expect Newcastle to ask for top dollar, perhaps even €150 million for Isak.
Although they appreciate Isak’s talent to eventually get to Lewandowski, based on his cost, the Catalans will almost certainly not pursue this deal this summer.
With the signing of Isak feeling too difficult to attain, Barcelona identifies more realistic transfer targets: Liverpool’s Luis Diaz is one to monitor.
The club will be itching to add to their forward line before the close of the summer transfer window; however, they will need to manage their desire and financial realities when looking for a low-cost solution to keep them competitive in La Liga and further.
