Barcelona secured their 28th La Liga title with a thrilling victory over local rivals Espanyol, completing a domestic treble that includes the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey.

The triumph, celebrated by fans at the packed stadium, marks their fifth league championship in the last decade, solidifying their dominance in Spanish football under Hansi Flick’s leadership.

The crown will signify much more than prestige; it will also mean money.

According to Diario Sport, La Liga champions can earn anywhere between €60 million to €90 million, derived from league rights, performance-related payments, and qualifying for European competition.

Last time they won the title in 2022/23, Barcelona received just over €61 million, and this year’s amount could be even greater.

And on top of that, they also earned €9 million from the Spanish Super Cup and €1.2 million from the Copa del Rey, which means they are going to earn a good chunk of change overall.

In addition to the success at home, the semi-final run in the UEFA Champions League provided Barcelona with at least €83 million, despite the elimination inflicted by Inter Milan.

That influx of money is a plus for president Joan Laporta, who has managed to shepherd the club to not only sporting success but also fiscally soundness.

This money will help Barcelona not only continue to invest in players and facilities but also to remain in contention in Europe.

As Barcelona aims the La Liga title, defeating Espanyol could represent a monumental moment for the club, since it would, in many ways, mix sporting success with a financial boon that could be the catalyst for the renaissance of Barcelona.
