Bayer Leverkusen is keeping an eye on a Barcelona forward in search of playing time next season, as per Diario Sport.
The Bundesliga outfit is one of several suitors for the 23-year-old, who has struggled to lock down a place in the starting eleven this season with the Catalan club.
With the club looking to add additional attacking options this summer, the chances of this player breaking into the Barcelona first team appear almost impossible.
It has sparked interest from clubs in Spain and Germany.
Leverkusen’s early movement could provide a project for the young player.
The player is Pau Victor, who has produced some great performances at Barça Atletic, and has made some shouting appearances for the first team.
But as Barcelona are looking to strengthen their attack and they are under financial pressure, they may have to move on several of the young players.
This includes Victor, either on loan or in a permanent move.
La Liga clubs like Betis, Celta Vigo, and Mallorca were looking to loan him, but Leverkusen’s interest indicates they are open to a more permanent solution, as well as competing at a European level.
Bayer Leverkusen appears to be heading into a new phase without Xabi Alonso, and even speculation about Cesc Fabregas as a possible coach.
At the same time, they are committed to pursuing Victor regardless of who is coaching, giving him a platform to grow in a competitive environment.
For Barcelona, they are open to being able to retain him if he buys into their project, but would also be happy to negotiate serious offers.
This summer is a big one for Victor.
At 23 years old, he needs regular minutes to grow as a player, and Bayer Leverkusen could provide the opportunity.
As the transfer window approaches, both club and player need to come to a conclusion that will ultimately impact Victor’s career path.
