Manchester City are plotting a bold move in the summer transfer window, targeting a € 60 m-rated Barcelona star to strengthen their midfield.
Saying goodbye to Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City are planning a major summer move, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
Pep Guardiola’s side is looking to add a modern number 10, bringing in several good players who can link play, create chances, and score.
The defending Premier League champions are focused on their top target, who thrives in all these areas.
The player is none other than Dani Olmo, who Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff have been impressed by, the Spanish international, who just returned to Barcelona under a year ago and achieved a long-time dream to wear that shirt amid all the registration issues and personal stuff.
Olmo (27) has had a trimmed season courtesy of muscle injuries and off-the-field related matters, but has still recorded 11 goals and 6 assists in 36 games under Hansi Flick.
Barcelona considers Olmo essential to their project and isn’t interested in selling, believing his professionalism and versatility within a tough squad make him a unique player as a true pro.
However, a transfer is still a long way off.
Suppose Manchester City sees the potential for Olmo to add depth to their squad.
In that case, they may make a tall offer that could potentially make Barcelona’s hand forced at €60-70 million or higher, causing them to consider negotiations as they try and bring their accounts back in order while improving other areas of their squad.
Olmo is currently focusing on Barcelona and making contributions there.
However, Manchester City is attempting to acquire Olmo from Barcelona at the same time, and this will not be easy as Olmo has strong ties to Barcelona (which is phased), and Barcelona has made it clear in their position.
So, this could be a tough deal to complete for Manchester City.
