FC Barcelona has demonstrated its commitment to La Masia by renewing the contracts of two highly regarded youth prospects.
According to reports by Jijantes FC, the club is putting finishing touches on new contracts today and wanted to secure both promising talents to advance their long term projects.
Additionally, Barcelona’s commitment to develop young players from La Masia suggests the club is emphasizing youth over experience, while they plan to reshape their squad in the summer transfer window.
The talents in question are Brian Farinas and Jofre Torrents, both of whom were remarkable strikers in La Masia’s Juvenil A.
Farinas, a 19-year-old midfielder, had a large role in the Juvenil A team tripling under coach Juliano Belletti, and he was also recently utilized in the RFEF Primera Division for Barça Atletic for two appearances.
Since his contract was soon to expire, it seemed an exit would be possible, but Barcelona’s enjoyment of Farinas’ development led to a new signing, which should be finalized today.
At the same time, 18-year-old left-back Torrents is considered a future first-team player.
He’s a big part of Belletti’s plans, having trained with the senior squad and played for Barça Atletic.
His contract is also due for extension; it ends in 2026 and will also be extended today.
These renewals show again that Barcelona is betting on its youth system as part of its success in the future.
Torrents is expected to join the first team for pre-season training, meaning he is starting to move up to the next level.
Farinas, too, is moving on, with the club also interested in him developing even more.
In a time of restricted finances and uncertainty for players in the squad, committing to these La Masia products guarantees the club’s future success by providing a balance of up-and-coming players alongside an established legacy.
